Stripe users can efficiently manage and process payments by saving credit card details for contacts. Here’s a guide on how to add, view, delete, and use saved cards.
(Please note that this is only available for Stripe users. This functionality is not supported for Authorize.net users.)
Managing Saved Credit Cards
-
Open any contact profile.
-
Click “Cards on file” in the left sidebar to view, delete, or add cards as needed.
-
Note: If a contact has or had recurring payments, their credit card details are already saved and will come up.
-
-
Click “Add Card” to save a new credit card for future transactions.
Using Saved Credit Cards
-
Go to the contact’s Contributions tab.
-
Click “Submit Credit Card Contribution.” there you can choose between:
-
Process a New Card: Enter card details for a one-time transaction. Remember, this card won’t be saved unless it’s used for a recurring payment.
-
Use Card on File: Select from the list of previously saved cards.
-
-
To keep a card on file for future use, you must save it first, following the steps above.
Permission Requirements
Managing/using saved credit cards requires a specific add-on permission: “Addon - Manage cards on file”.
Go to Administration > Users and assign this role to any user who you want to have the ability to add, remove, or process payments using saved cards.
Note: This permission is included in the Owner role. If other users need access, you must assign the permission to them manually.
